First Friday Art Walk: Celebrating a Decade of Clay and Community
Join us this First Friday (November 1st) as Tenn Street Coffee & Books proudly presents "Something Old, Something New: A 10-Year Retrospective," a touching tribute to Denver’s vibrant ceramic arts community and Marie EVB Gibbons's lasting legacy.
This isn't just any art show - it's a journey through time featuring the evolution and artistry of the talented 'Mud Club' ceramicists. Each piece tells a story of growth, inspiration, and the enduring influence of their late mentor, Marie EVB Gibbons, whose innovative spirit continues to shape Denver's art scene.
Setting the mood for this special evening, we'll be treated to live jazz by talented UCD musicians Payton Perez on guitar and Finley Inglis on upright bass.
What makes this show truly unique? Each artist will showcase both their early works ("something old") alongside their current pieces ("something new"), offering a rare glimpse into their artistic evolution. You'll see how Gibbons' distinctive black-washing technique and love for incorporating natural and found objects live on in their work while each artist's unique voice shines through.
As our final gallery showing of 2024, this 25-year anniversary exhibition is particularly meaningful. Marie's legacy extends far beyond the clay studio. As a visiting artist in Denver schools, she introduced countless young minds to the magic of ceramics, creating ripples that continue to influence our creative community.
Mark your calendars!
